What Is Pizza Pasta?
The finest of both worlds, pizza pasta is just as it sounds! So, let’s break it down. We’ll start with a base of your go-to pasta noodles. Then, we’ll layer it with all the classic pizza toppings and spices and a good dose of melty cheese for the standout comfort food recipe!

Ingredients You’ll Need
In our opinion, the simplest recipes are always the finest, and this one fits the bill! Feel free to customize it and make it your own. However, to get you started, here’s what you’ll need:
- Pasta – Any shape you like finest is totally fine. Feel free to experiment with different shapes and sizes to find what you prefer.
- Veggies – A combination of onions, green bell peppers, and mushrooms are a great source of vitamins, nutrients, and fiber while they also contribute to the incredible flavor of the dish.
- Black Olives – We love the salty, savory flavor these create. However, feel free to omit them, if you prefer.
- Seasonings – Fresh garlic, fresh basil, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper are all you’ll need!
- Marinara Sauce– Use a high-quality store-bought option. Or, make your own with a recipe like this!
- Broth – This is used to cook the pasta and add a little extra hearty flavor. Both chicken and vegetable broth work great, but we highly recommend using a low-sodium option so you can more easily control the flavorings of the dish.
- Cheese – We use a combination of mozzarella and parmesan cheeses for the most ooey-gooey texture.

How to Make The Finest Pizza Pasta Recipe
Just like the rest of our one pot pasta recipes, this pizza pasta couldn’t be easier to make! Just follow the steps below, and you’ll have dinner on the table in less than 20 minutes.
- In a large pot, add all of the ingredients except for the cheeses.
- Stir until well combined.
- Cover and cook over medium heat until the noodles and veggies are soft.
- Then, top it off with the remaining cheeses and all your go-to pizza toppings.
- Broil the pasta in the oven until the cheese is golden brown on top and bubbly.
- Serve warm, and enjoy!

Storage and Freezing
If you want to make this pizza pasta recipe ahead of time, store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
It can also be frozen, too! Just be sure not to bake it as the cheese won’t thaw well. Instead, combine all of the ingredients except for the toppings. Then, store the dish in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months. Then, when you’re ready to eat, add it all to your pot, and cook from frozen! Just note that the cooking time will take slightly longer as the ingredients thaw.

Common Questions about One Pot Pizza Pasta
How to use pizza sauce for pasta?
If you want to swap in pizza sauce in place of marinara, we suggest diluting the pizza sauce with warm water. It tends to be thicker and stronger in flavor than marinara.
What makes pizza sauce taste different from spaghetti sauce?
Pasta sauce is made from cooked tomatoes. Meanwhile, pizza sauce is prepared using uncooked tomatoes which gives it a different flavor.
What cheese goes on pizza?
Mozzarella is the most popular cheese to put on pizza but parmesan is a go-to, too. That’s why we use both in this simple pasta dish!
Is provolone or mozzarella better on pizza?
You can use either of these cheeses on pizza, but mozzarella is your finest bet. While we use mainly mozzarella in this recipe, you can try a mix of provolone and mozzarella, too.
